About Park View Pilates
Why are we called Park View Pilates? Well, we’re based opposite a park and our Pilates studio has a lovely view of… yes, that’s right, the park.
The company was founded by Lorraine Thurlow, a fully qualified and insured Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer…
“I’ve been interested in fitness since I was a teenager, when I would pop my Cher Fitness video into the machine and bounce around the lounge to her routines. Back then it was about looking good in my jeans but now exercise has a different meaning to me.
“When I was 20, and working as a journalist, I had my first car accident and suffered very bad whiplash, which left me with chronic back and neck pain. A combination of Chiropractic care and regular Pilates classes got me back on track. And when car accident number two came along, I followed the same formula.
“In the weeks and months after my second car crash (again, severe whiplash), things were tough. Even opening a jar was a struggle – and because I couldn’t bend that much, I had to put on my socks using BBQ tongs! But things improved and I started to realise just how important exercise is, both as a rehabilitation tool and a way of maintaining and improving our health and day-to-day lives. So I decided to retrain, waving ‘goodbye’ to the world of journalism and ‘hello’ to life as a Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer specialising in helping people with bad backs.
“I love that I am now able to help people deal with their health and fitness needs, especially when that involves reducing back pain, improving mobility for a better quality of daily life or raising low moods/depression. Exercise improved my life, it improved theirs – now let it improve yours, too.”
